Another iPhone Killer - HTC Diamond Touch Screen Smartphone is Coming Soon

April 29, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

Do we need another iphone killer, we are certainly welcoming the new HTC Diamond. As the name implies, this is the crown jewel of HTC and it’s one of the most important products that HTC will introduce this year. So, we guess the Adnroid phone will be another one this year. Full sliding QUWERTY keyboard, VGA touchscreen display, and 3G are very attractive at this point since these are what the iphone is lacking. Plus, a better 3 mega pixel camera on board. Watch out, iphone lovers, is that enough to break up your relationship with Apple iPhone? I am ready to give up Mogul or even the HTC Touch, will you? More details will be revealed at the HTC special event held in London on May 6th. So, stay tuned.

Why Some Cell Phones Don’t have Wifi?

April 23, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

Ever wonder why most of the cell phones in the market today don’t include Wi-Fi? There are number of reasons for this. First of all Wi-Fi drains out your cell phone battery faster than any other applications or games you use on your cell phones. And if you don’t set up the wifi connection correctly, your cell phone can be dead in just an hour without your noticing it. One mistake most people with Wi-Fi equipped smartphones are to leave the Wi-Fi detection on all the time. So, whether you are in a coffee shop or in a subway or tunnel, your phone is always trying to pick up a signal. That really kills the battery life. Another reason, your carriers don’t want you to know that you can make Skype calls through Wi-Fi and without using any of your plan minutes. Hey, that’s how they make money, if you need more minutes, upgrade your rate plan. Lastly, even with Wi-Fi, browsing web or downloading on your cell phoned don’t seem to improve too much over the 3G network, mainly because the processor inside your phone is not as powerful as that found in laptops or desktops. What are your thoughts? Are there any reasons you want or don’t want your cell phones to come with Wi-Fi?

3G Wireless Broadband Card for Laptops - AT&T, Verizon, Sprint

April 22, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

Everyone wants to go wireless these day and many laptops are still limited by wi-fi availability in coffee shops and libraries. Wouldn’t it be nice to surf the web on your notebook anywhere and anytime without wi-fi but have the same speed as cable modem or DSL. You need a wireless card for your laptops. How much does it cost, it ranges from $40 to $70 depending on the carriers of your choice and the usage quota. But beware that only 3G wireless modem cards can give you the broadband like speed. And they are current available through AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. T-Mobile runs on 2.5 EDGE network, which is much slower than at&t’s HSDPA and EVDO from Sprint and Verizon.
Both AT&T and Verizon Wireless are currently offering a $60.00 dataconnect plan that include 5G data transfer each month, while Sprint gives you unlimited data for $60. So, who will you choose?

Are Sprint Phones and Plans Better and Cheaper Than Verizon Wireless

April 19, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

There are only two major CDMA carriers in the US. The largest one is Verizon Wireless, it’s also the biggest carrier in the United States in terms of coverage area and number of subscribers. Sprint is a distant player in cellular phone services. Both companies offers the most advanced 3G network called EVDA Rev A, which is pretty much equivalent to the broadband download speed you find via some of the popular DSL providers like Verizon itself and AT&T internet service. When you look at the phone offered by Verizon and Sprint, you would probably notice Verizon Wireless has more selections than Sprint. But when comparing the price of the identical phones, you will find Sprint has substantial lower prices on the same phone and same model. The rate plans by Sprint is also much cheaper than that of Verizon. The Sprint cell phone plan, for example starts at just $29.99 while Verizon’s wireless plans start at $39.99. When you add more plan features to your phone, the price difference is ever greater. So, is Sprint better and cheaper than Verizon Wireless? I personally think so. You can try their services for 30 days to find out.

Why should I get a Family Cell Phone Plan

April 16, 2008 by John · 1 Comment

I am not married, why should I get a family shared plan with someone. I can afford an individual plan, it only cost $39.99. Why bother pay an extra $20, the saving doesn’t seem that significant. But look deeper into each of the family plan - not only do they let you talk unlimited within the family circle, some of them even let you share data/text/web features. These extra features cost more money than you think. Even if you don’t need those fancy data or text feature now. Adding them for other family members can save you a great deal over paying them on an individual line. My best advice - simply get a cell family plan deal if you need more than one phone.

Compare New Sony Ericsson Flip Phone z750 with z310

April 14, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

They are both fip phones from Sony Ericsson and they all come in different colors - black, pink, and gray. Same 2 mega pixel camera as the w580i. The big improvement for z750 over z310 is the screen resolution. The z750 music phone now has 320×240 pixel 262K TFT display vs z310’s 128 x 160 pixels, twice as clear and twice as fun. And biggest improvement over z310 is of course the network the z750 phone can support - HSDPA and quad-band EDGE, which makes it true global phone. With integrated picture blogging, full HTML browser benefiting from HSDPA broadband speed, the z750 is the most advanced multimedia phone made by Sony at this time.

Is Sprint Dropping Palm Treo 755p?

April 10, 2008 by John · Leave a Comment

The Palm Centro has been a hot selling item for Sprint since it was introduced later last year. And the Centro has been bringing more revenue for Palm than any other products that Palm in offering. For $99 sometimes $0 after rebates, you can get the pink or black Centro with 2-year contract while the Treo 755p costs at least $199 with a service plan. With virtually the same Palm OS but thinner and smaller form factor, and don’t forget that it still has a full QWERTY keyboard. It’s the only smartphone of that size to have a full QWERTY keyboard. The Blackberry Pearl has to cram two keys into one. For those loyal Treo fans out there, the 755p is probably the last Palm powered Treo you can get. Get it while you can, Sprint.com has limited supplies.
