Buy AT&T Cell Phones Without Contract

February 8, 2009 by

Buy AT&T Cell Phones without Contact Don’t want to hold on to the same phone for 2 years and want to buy AT&T cell phones without contract? There are a number of options if you are considering buying AT&T cell phones with no contract extension.

First, buy direct from an AT&T local store, that way, you are guaranteed to have a new phone that works with the network and you play with all the new models on the spot and decide which phone to go for. Another advantage is having someone to switch to phone and SIM card for you on the spot. However, you are going to pay a premium on a new AT&T phone without a contract. Price can be high as $600 for phones like the new Blackberry Bold 2.

The second option, you can purchase a new phone from eBay. These phones don’t have to be unlocked but you have to make sure they are compatible with AT&T only. Since AT&T is using GSM wireless technology, some phones from T-Mobile may work with AT&T. However, I highly recommend checking ATT’s official site and see if these phones are currently being sold. Beware you are buying from a reputable seller with high positive ratings. Do read the feedbacks left by recent buyers. Generally speaking, the more recent positive feedbacks the seller gets, the more reliable the product will be.

The third option to buy AT&T cell phones without contract extension is to purchase the phone from authorized online AT&T agents. They sell phones at a steep discount with a new contract. And sometimes, the price is so low that they are not even allowed to advertise online. A no contract AT&T phone, on the other hand, can also be much cheaper than you find anywhere else. For example, the new LG Vu CU920 only runs you $219.

Lastly, if you don’t plan to switch to another for at least a year, why not sign up a new contract? Just to give you an example, BlackBerry Bold White $430 without contract, but you can get a best Samsung Mythic deal today for $19 and save $410. Even if you decide to cancel the service plan 3 months later you will still save $235 after you pay the $175 Early Termination Fee. Another example – Garmin Nuvifone cost $550 without contract. And you only have to pay $69 today for signing a new plan. $480 Instant Savings right there. Keep in mind that AT&T will charge $5 less on Early Termination Fee for every month you have completed the contract – meaing that if you have been in the contract for 4 months your Early Termination Fee will be $175 – $20 = $155.

So, still thinking to buy AT&T phones without contract? Save yourself some serious money and shop for your new AT&T phones.

you hope what works? there’s nothing on this page that actually is a secret, or a temporary offer… except for the Ignite offer, which is an AT&T offer, not some hidden thing.. And $219 is not cheap… it ridiculous that technology costs go down all the time (hence why laptops are obsolete once they hit store shelves anymore) and yet cell phone prices don’t go down with the rest of the tech world..

i already have a plan, my phone got stolen and i just want to get replacement online (since the at&t store selection is consistently nonexistent) that i could get a sim card for, how do you do that?

  9. John on April 15th, 2010 11:51 pm

@katherine, you can buy a replacement phone through out advertiser. There are over 50 brand news phones to choose from. Price without contract is much higher (still reasonable compared to retail stores) than with contract. If you are already 21 months into current contract, consider doing an upgrade/extension.
