Palm Treo Pro is the new Centro-sized smartphone for business professionals. When comparing to the big brother Treo 800w, the Treo Pro looks much sleeker given the smaller form factor and shining black color. The new Treo Pro features Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition on 320×320 transflective color TFT flush touchscreen. That’s second smartphone powered by Windows Mobile on such high resolution screen (well, the Palm Treo 800w being the first one). It supports HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM radio, Tri-band UMTS – 850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz, Quad-band GSM – 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz. That means it’s going to work with T-Mobile and AT&T in the States. In comparison to the Treo 800w, the Pro features the same-sized QWWERTY keyboard as the Centro which is perfectly fine if you can get used to the smaller sized keys. Right now, the Treo 800w is only available through Sprint. If want a Treo with Windows Mobile 6.1 for AT&T or T-Mobile, the Treo Pro is the only way to go. The Treo Pro is selling for $549 unlocked and without a contract. That’s mean you can replace your current T-Mobile or AT&T Centro with this one without extending your service agreement. No words yet on whether the Treo Pro will be available with a subsidized price through carriers.
