Does Palm Pre use Sprint 4G?
April 9, 2009 by John
I know that Sprint already rolled out 4G in Baltimore. Does Palm Pre use 4G? According to the original Palm Pre Specs, it supports EV-DO Rev. A or HSDPA. But in the recent Palm Pre commercial, Sprint repeatedly show off what people can do with 3G network (along with Palm Pre) and then at the end of the ad they show “first wireless 4G network from a national carrier”. I am betting the Palm Pre have 4G capability and probably will be the first 4G phone from Sprint. Baltimore you are so lucky!
Update: According to the Sprint Rep I spoke to on the Pre launch date, there will be a new version of Palm Pre that support 4G (WiMax). It will NOT be software upgrade. It will be a new Palm Pre 4G coming out in 2010!

I just talked to a Sprint rep yesterday who said that the Palm Pre would in fact be 4G capable. Currently, the only 4G area is Baltimore, but as Sprint expands that, more people will be able to enjoy the awesome 4G speeds on the Pre.
I’m already planning to get the Pre and I live near Bmore but commute their frequently. Can’t wait to get it and try all this 4G love. I hope it supports 4G.
NEws Flash!
I have the pre… i love it.. i was under the same idea that it was 4g..
I called sprint to ask when they were going to light up the towers..
well guess what..
This phone is NOT 4g capable..
I stood in line over 12 hours to get this phone… the reps at the store told me repeatedly that this phone has the 4g capabilities….
but now im being told by many ppl at sprint customer care that the pre does NOT have 4g capabilities…
IM PISSED OFF!!!!
dear chuck, get over it…. its just a phone!
[...] me. There are not plenty of apps there to take up that much space yet. And I am sure by the time Palm Pre 4G comes out it will support 32 [...]
