My New Year’s Resolution - Get a New Free Cell Phone Every Year

December 30, 2007 by John

New cell phones come out every month. And people want to change their phones as often as possible. New cell phones always have more features than the ones you have been holding for the past 3 months. However, in reality we are often locked up by 2-year contracts and afraid of paying the hefty Early Termination Fees. I still remember the old days when the standard contract is only one year and you can switch carriers and get the brand new phones every 12 month. The good news now is that carriers are gradually adopting the prorated ETF policy in which you can get out of the contract for a portion of the regular ETF depending on the number of remaining month in the contract. Verizon has put the porated EFT in effect, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint will do the same in 2008. So getting free cell phones will be easier in 2008. Simply call your carrier find out if you can get out of your current contract for a small fee. Other carriers are offering dozens of unbelievable cell phone deals to “help” you switch your number over. Hope everyone gets a free cell phone in 2008.
