Sprint’s New Family Shared Plan
July 7, 2008 by John
Do you have Sprint as your current carrier and have the $59.99/month family plan? And if you are planning to add more lines to this account, you are out of luck. As of now, Sprint has removed the 550 minute family plan, which was the lowest-priced family plan you can find among all carriers. Instead, the new basic family plan starts $69.99 with 700 shared minutes. In fact, that’s the only basic family plan available. The other family plans start at $129.99 and $169.99 with more minutes and include Talk/Message/Data. Each additional line for the new family talk/message/data plan will cost you $19.99. They kind of force you to untilize the data and message features. If you do use these features, the plans are worth every penny. But if you only use the voice features, I don’t think that’s the price you should pay. One way to keep the current price/plan is not to add any additional lines to the account. If you do need more lines, ask for any discount for upgrading to the new family shared plan. Sprint customer service rep will likely to offer you some type of credit to compenstate the fee hike, especially you are a long-time customer.
