Verizon Wireless Month to Month Service Plan

March 18, 2009 by John

Verizon Wireless Month to Month Service Plan Should you get Verizon Wireless Month to Month plan instead of signing up for a 2-year contract? With retail price of some smartphone can goes as high as $500 if you choose to go with the month to month service plan. Let do some detailed comparison here:

Scenario One: You are considering the new LG Voyager Titanium. And you are planning to stay with the carrier for 6 months then get another new phone either with Verizon or another carrier. The LG Voyager is selling for $405 in store with a Verizon month to month plan. The biggest advantage of no contract plan is that you can choose to stay as little as a month or for whatever how long you would like. All you have to pay is $405 up front.

Scenario Two: You are going to buy cheap Verizon Voyager for only $0.00 with a 2-year service plan. Pay nothing up front. And six months later, you start to like other new phones that just come out (who doesn’t?) and want to cancel the service and switch carriers. No problem, all you need to do is to pay $175 early termination fee. To be more accurate, you actually have pay $145 since Verizon takes $5 off the ETF for every month of the contract that’s completed. And you can still keep the phone for yourself in case you want to switch back or sell it to someone else.

Do you see the picture here? $405 vs. $145. You can save much much more with a 2-year contract even if you cancel it within the first 6 months. Forget about Verizon Wireless Month to Month plan. So, sign up for a new Verizon service plan, get a brand new phone, and save more money.
