Why Some Cell Phones Don’t have Wifi?

Ever wonder why most of the cell phones in the market today don’t include Wi-Fi? There are number of reasons for this. First of all Wi-Fi drains out your cell phone battery faster than any other applications or games you use on your cell phones. And if you don’t set up the wifi connection correctly, your cell phone can be dead in just an hour without your noticing it. One mistake most people with Wi-Fi equipped smartphones are to leave the Wi-Fi detection on all the time. So, whether you are in a coffee shop or in a subway or tunnel, your phone is always trying to pick up a signal. That really kills the battery life. Another reason, your carriers don’t want you to know that you can make Skype calls through Wi-Fi and without using any of your plan minutes. Hey, that’s how they make money, if you need more minutes, upgrade your rate plan. Lastly, even with Wi-Fi, browsing web or downloading on your cell phoned don’t seem to improve too much over the 3G network, mainly because the processor inside your phone is not as powerful as that found in laptops or desktops.
